Tell AAA to Support Clean Energy Jobs

During the 2019 Oregon legislative session AAA Oregon testified against HB2020, the Clean Energy Jobs bill, echoing the talking points used by fossil fuel industry lobbyists. Numerous reports have since surfaced of AAA actively working against the bill.

Below you’ll find a sample letter you can email or mail. If you’re a AAA member please include that information and tell them how you expect better from them

------------Sample letter below:

Dear Mr. Morgan and AAA Board of Directors,

During the 2019 Oregon legislative session AAA Oregon testified against HB2020, the Clean Energy Jobs bill, echoing the talking points used by fossil fuel industry lobbyists. Numerous reports have since surfaced of AAA actively working both against the bill and to weaken the bill.

This stance by AAA is very disappointing. I strongly support Oregon’s cap and invest bill as a fully developed, efficient and fair approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Oregon. Immediate greenhouse gas reductions are required if we wish to leave future generations a livable planet.

Oregon must do its part. Transportation is now the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Oregon. With its over 700,000 members, AAA Oregon/Idaho could be a hugely influential expediter in moving forward with the transition to electric vehicles and a more extensive and affordable public transit system.

I strongly urge AAA to pivot from the fossil fuel past to the clean energy future, and to do so in advance of the next legislative session in February 2020.

Sincerely,

[Your name]
